Nate Brown

Executive Director
Nate has a BA Hons in Accounting and Finance and a BA Hons in Business Administration from Greenwich University, London. Nate worked in London for different sectors until he moved to South Africa in 2012, where he worked at Barloworld Motor Retail and Audi Centre Bruma.

Nate joined the LGBTI human rights sector at Iranti-org in July 2016 as a Financial Manager. Nate joined PAI on a part-time basis in 2017 and this was converted to a full-time post in 2018. Nate was Acting Executive Director between June and December 2018. He was announced as Executive Director in January 2019.

Delisile Mavuso

Administrator
Deli joined PAI in April 2016 as Administrator. This role involves administrative support and organising of Board and other meetings. She also works closely with the Financial Manager on budgets and reconciliations. Deli previously worked as the Office Administrator at Forum for Women’s Empowerment (FEW) and completed a learnership at POWA doing court monitoring and support for lesbian victims and survivors of hate crimes. She also completed an internship at Iranti-org, providing logistical support and organising of media trainings. She is a community activist and is the current coordinator and a founder member of IHAWU, a CBO based in Katlehong that works mainly with lesbian and bisexual women.

Richard Lusimbo

Programme Manager
Richard Lusimbo is a Ugandan human rights activist who has worked within the LGBTI and Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) movements for the past eight years, as Research and Documentations Manager at Sexual Minorities Uganda (SMUG). He is a graduate of Lund University, International Training Program in Sexual and Reproductive Health rights (2019), and holder of a Masters of Philosophy in Human Rights and Democratisation in Africa (2017) as well as a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (2011) (University of Pretoria and Uganda Christian University respectively). Richard also continues to serve on a number of boards, committees and Technical Working Groups. In 2016 - 2018, Richard fulfilled the role of Board Co-Chair at Pan African ILGA where he had previously served as Alternate Co-Chair of the Board of PAI (2014-2016), and he served as Alternate Co-Secretary- General of ILGA during this time.

Thokozani Mbwana

 Policy, Research & Advocacy
TK is a researcher, African Studies PhD candidate and poet. They joined PAI in 2021 as Policy, Advocacy and Research Officer. They hold a BA in Sociology and an MSc in Criminology where both degrees have allowed them to experience a wide range of sectors from education to criminal justice. In 2019 they made a shift from the academic space into the human rights sector where their interest lies in finding ways of incorporating African-centric healing practices in research and community work involving LGBTIQ+ folks.

Ibrahim Waiswa Batambuze

Communications Officer
Ibrahim (most commonly referred to as Bata) joined Pan Africa ILGA as the Communications Officer. He is a creative Ugandan lawyer and communications for development expert with over 9 years’ experience in media Advocacy, Digital and Social Media Strategy, Content Development, Analytics, Media Planning and Buying  among others. He is passionate about using digital and traditional media, and communications to influence positive change focusing on human rights for all. Bata is passionate about the concept of Pan Africanism.

Zsa-Zsa Fisher

Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Officer
Zsa-Zsa is a Trans Activist who understands the true meaning of empowering the LGBTQI+ movement and seeking better ways of living, with equality for all.
She has worked in various sectors, before finding her passion working with LGBTQI+ people. Her activism started in 2010, as a pageant coordinator and drag artiste, giving way to empower LGBTQI+ people and their rights. She has been involved in forums with government departments, and in the private sector as a consultant on Human Rights issues that affect the community.
Zsa-Zsa's scope of work includes facilitation, monitoring and evaluation, administrative support, auditing, quality assurance.
